Borough of Westwood - Coronavirus Update 6/1/2020

Dear Westwood Resident:

Governor Murphy has announced the following re-openings with yet-to-be-finalized DOH guidance on limitations :

  • Indoor church services may resume on June 12th.
  • Child care/daycare may resume for all clients, not just essential workers, on June 15th.
  • Outdoor dining may resume on June 15th
  • In-person, non-essential retail may resume on June 15th
  • Barber shops and hair salons may resume on June 22nd
  • Organized, non-contact outdoor sports may resume on June 22nd.
  • Day camps may resume on July 6th.

These dates are targets; the determination whether and when to reopen will be subject to the ability of the respective private and municipal entities to abide by whatever regulations the State ultimately will require in order to maintain a healthy environment. In the end, for some, reopening may not be possible.

But after several months of seemingly endless restrictions, it’s a relief to be able to share with you the unfurling of some normalcy, even if we don’t yet have all the guidance for the reopening process.

And speaking of good news, I am happy to announce the reopening of the Westwoof Dog Park at Westvale Park. Maximum occupancy is 25 people. Please maintain social distancing at all times. Dogs must be licensed and vaccinated, and on a leash when outside the dog run. Additional rules are posted at the dog park.

Many thanks,

Mayor Ray Arroyo
